What Information Is Needed for a Collision-Repair Estimate?
Good information helps the shop understand the event and prepare for inspection, but photos and descriptions do not always reveal hidden damage.
Vehicle and contact details
Bring the year, make, model, your contact information, and whether the vehicle is currently drivable.
Damage history
Share the collision date, areas affected, warning lights, unusual sounds, leaks, and whether previous repairs exist in the same area.
Claim details
If you opened a claim, bring the insurer name and claim contact information. Never send full policy numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information, or card details through an estimate form.
Photos
Wide views establish context; closer photos capture panels and damage. An in-person inspection may still be required.
